Glen Haven Family Photos - Adventures In The Dunes

Photographing Temple, Erik and little Ella was an absolute dream. This was the second time I had the honor of taking their family pictures. We were lucky enough to capture them at one of my favorite spots as well. Candid family portraits sessions are always a joy to shoot, and this was one for the books!

Historic Glen Haven

This time we drove out to the historic town of Glen Haven near Sleeping Bear Dunes. Glen Haven is a quaint port village on Lake Michigan that serves as the prime location for a Northern Michigan family photo session. The spot where we shot was just outside the town and is home to the best sunset in Northern Michigan. It provides the ideal backdrop for an adventurous family photo session.

Northern Michigan Magic

Northern Michigan is a special place for this family. While husband Erik was raised in Northern Michigan, Temple was not and at first the idea of moving to such a small town was intimidating. She now boldly says that small town living “was just what my soul was craving.” Not only because of the natural beauty that comes with the relatively untouched areas of Northern Michigan, such as Sleeping Bear Dunes, but the people as well, they make the area truly magical.

A Beautiful Family Unit

Temple, Erik and Ella brought great energy to the shoot. They make being a family photographer easy and fun! Ella was such full of joy and happiness, this is clearly seen in the photos. We raced down the dunes together, laughing and even falling at one point. But Ella dusted the sand off and kept going, ready for the next photo adventure.

Temple and Erik are such a gorgeous couple, both inside and out. Above all, their love for each other and for their daughter is abundant. Recently a friend described them as a “beautiful family uint” which is the most ideal way to describe the family. They are extremely close and the love they share is unmatched. Together they are curious and adventurous. Truly taking life by the horns, loving every minute of their journey together. It was such a pleasure to capture their love and give this sweet “family unit” memories to cherish for years to come.
