There’s something truly magical about winter in Northern Michigan — the snow-covered trails, quiet streets, and cozy layers create a dreamy backdrop for engagement sessions. As a Traverse City engagement photographer, I’ve come to embrace the cold — in fact, I swim more in Lake Michigan during winter than I do in the summer. ❄️🧊
Downtown Traverse City Session with Rich & Macall
Rich and Macall’s session took us through the quiet streets of Downtown Traverse City. The festive feel of the season gave their session a naturally romantic vibe. We wandered past shop windows, found tucked-away alleys, and even warmed up with some laughs between takes.
Downtown in winter feels like a scene from a Hallmark movie — it’s a favorite for couples who love the combination of classic city charm and natural winter wonder.
A Winter Hike with Allison & Bora at the State Hospital
Allison and Bora’s session took us off the beaten path — quite literally — through the historic Traverse City State Hospital grounds. We explored trails behind the old asylum, winding through snow-dusted pines and past iconic brick buildings. With fresh powder on the ground and not a single soul in sight (Monday morning perks!), it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.
These two were all smiles, bundled up and open to every moment — whether trekking through deep snow or sneaking kisses beneath the pines. I’m thrilled to be photographing their wedding at the Delamar Hotel and couldn’t be more excited to work with couples who love winter as much as I do.
