Ideas for your Traverse City Couples Adventure
A Romantic Campfire on Good Harbor Bay Beach
If you are looking forward to a couples getaway in Traverse City, here are a few ideas to help you plan a fun and memorable adventure. Last spring I spent some time with Olivia and Andrew at Good Harbor Bay Beach. These two had a little fire going when I arrived and offered me some tasty fire roasted treats and local beer. We sat around the fire enjoying some snacks and good conversation. Olivia and Andrew brought a speaker that was playing some of their favorite tunes. They danced around the fire as I captured their cuteness. After, Olivia and Andrew paddled on the SUP board and after a couple attempts managed to both fit on the board while Olivia paddled. I really enjoyed the simplicity of this experience and that Olivia and Andrew chose to include some of their favorite things: tasty snacks and beer, their favorite music, and a little water fun on the SUP board. Later on, the two changed into a second more dressy outfit and we explored the trails around Good Harbor Bay Beach. Check out my instagram for a reel of this experience.
A Backyard Homegrown Meal with the Pups
Libby and Josh live in Traverse City with their 3 energetic pups. Libby enjoys spending time at home cooking healthy and delicious meals. Her cooking often includes hand picked ingredients from her own garden. I love that Libby made a fresh salad and pasta for their couples photo shoot. The two enjoyed a dinner and wine as I captured their experience. After, Libby and Josh cuddled in the lawn chairs underneath a quilt that was made by Libby’s mom. Then it was time to wear out some puppy energy. We explored the woods near their place with the dogs. I always love it when people include their fur babies in photo shoots. I love animals and they are a part of the family after all. Libby and Josh’s photo session also proves that you don’t have to go far from home for your photo adventure. In fact, sometimes it can feel more natural to not go anywhere and enjoy some of the creature comforts of home.
Let the Scenery do the Talking
I love capturing couples and families in beautiful landscapes all over Northern Michigan. So when Justin and Cameren planned a last minute engagement adventure in September, I suggested we explore the beaches and woods of Old Mission Peninsula. They were totally open to going anywhere! Sweet! We started out at Mission Point Lighthouse, walking down the beach to a nice rocky section and then we hiked the trails around the lighthouse. Afterwards, Justin and Cameren switched outfits and we took advantage of the last light. We went down to a dock at Bower’s Harbor Boat Launch for some dramatic sunset photos. The great thing about Northern Michigan is there are plentiful options for your photo shoot. So you don’t need an elaborate plan, just a couple outfits and a sense of adventure.
