My Favorite 25 Images from 2020 | Sleeping Bear Dunes

I have traveled all over the country and trust me when I say there is no place like Sleeping Bear Dunes.

Hi, I’m Josh Hartman. I’m a photographer from Northern Michigan and it’s here that I photograph families and couples.

In the warmer months, I like to park my van at one of the many trailheads along the Sleeping Bear Dunes Lakeshore, which I like to call the ‘fresh coast.’ The lakeshore covers 35 miles of Lake Michigan.

I have uncovered many magnificent trails. Almost every single day from May to October, you will find me exploring the coastline with my dog Kovu and girlfriend Nicole. Around golden hour is when the magic happens and usually that’s when I plan my adventures. Northern Michigan is known for its dramatic weather and some pretty amazing sunsets too.

Where do I shoot? Take your pick from the immense dunes of Glen Arbor to the forested trails of Empire Bluff. When it comes to the perfect location for your adventure, you really can’t go wrong with the fresh coast.

In 2020, I had the pleasure of photographing 51 family adventures, 19 elopements, and 27 engagement sessions at Sleeping Bear Dunes. I sifted through all those galleries to bring to you my favorite 25 images. Although not technically a part of Sleeping Bear Dunes, I included a handful of photos from Old Mission Peninsula, Leland, and Traverse City too.
