Shae and John's Northern Michigan Wedding at Headlands International Dark Sky Park
Nestled at the northern tip of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, Mackinaw City is a place of serene beauty and, as we’d discover, an enchanting venue for weddings. I recently had the pleasure of capturing Shae and John’s wedding at the Headlands International Dark Sky Park in Mackinaw City. It was a celebration under the stars in one of the most unique settings in Northern Michigan.
Choosing an unconventional venue like the Headlands was a brilliant move on Shae and John’s part. Their guests couldn’t help but be enchanted by this creative choice, complete with an indoor event center, a charming gift shop, and tiered outdoor seating designed for stargazing or picnicking. The entire property was impeccably maintained, offering a plethora of picturesque backdrops to enhance the wedding experience.
The outdoor stadium seating, where the guests were seated, added a unique and photogenic touch to the event. As Shae and John exchanged their vows, they were surrounded not just by their loved ones but also by the beauty of nature at its finest.
We were fortunate enough to time this wedding just right, catching the fall foliage in all its glory. The warm, autumnal colors of Northern Michigan provided a breathtaking backdrop, making every moment worthy of a photograph.
Of course, no Northern Michigan wedding would be complete without a sunset photoshoot. I took Shae and John aside, capturing the love and joy they shared as the sun dipped below the horizon. It was pure magic. And then, the stars came out to play. The Headlands International Dark Sky Park is renowned for its stellar views, and we weren’t disappointed.
