Kim and Kevin Sun Mountain Lodge Elopement in Winthrop, WA
Last winter I had the chance to photograph Kim and Kevin slaloming down the slopes in the Cascades. Their backcountry skiing engagement session in Steven’s Pass was so much fun to capture and it gave me the biggest workout of my life as I tried to keep up with Kim and Kevin. Now I was returning to the Cascades, but the landscape was green everywhere and the climate warm and sunny.
Kim and Kevin eloped at Sun Mountain Lodge overlooking Methow Valley. What a magnificent location with 360-degree views of the Methow Valley below. Sun Mountain Lodge is near the quaint little western town, Winthrop, Washington. This is actually where I was staying and each night I’d drive through Method Valley up to the Sun Mountain Lodge to enjoy the beautiful views from the comfort of the hot tub. The sunsets were incredible and always a little different. The night before the wedding, the rain began to mist as the sun was setting, creating a dramatic golden light in the clouds. It was incredible to see.
We had the first look down in Methow Valley in a meadow full of wildflowers. The ceremony was on the lawn overlooking the mountains, which is actually where I took Kim and Kevin for some beautiful portraits at sunset. Then we ended the night with some epic partying atop the mountain in their giant tent. Kim and Kevin’s friends sure know how to party. This was definitely a wedding to remember. Thank you Kim and Kevin for asking me to photograph your beautiful day.
