Thu and Ha's Winter Engagement | Sleeping Bear Dunes
I have a very special wintry engagement at Sleeping Bear Dunes to share today. Thu and Ha explored with me on one of the coldest days of the year. Despite the single digit temperatures, these two were in high spirits and they were more than willing to take off some layers briefly for some epic shots.
Thu and Ha live in Southern Michigan. They drove up to Traverse City for the weekend. The two enjoy traveling, going out to restaurants, and watching movies together. Thu loves to make fun of Ha for loving sour fruits, something that girls typically like. “He’s very detailed and always want to perfect something. That’s why it takes forever for him to finish one project. He’s better in craft and decorating more than me, and even a better cook than me. So, we always joke around that he should have been a wife, and I’m the husband.” ~Thu
I just love that Thu wore a traditional Vietnamese dress. The wind chill was a frigid -20 when we explored Sleeping Bear Dunes. I knew I would only have a few minutes to photograph the dress. Thu agrees that it was totally worth it. A bit more about the dress: “The long dress I wore was our Vietnamese national costume garment. It is a tight-fitting silk tunic worn over trousers. We usually wear it for special events such as wedding, lunar new year, or going to the temple. We call it “ao dai” in vietnam. Ao dai emphasizes the way the dress ties feminine beauty to Vietnamese nationalism.” ~Thu
Thanks so much for braving the cold at Sleeping Bear Dunes with me Thu and Ha. I had so much fun!
